Kate Middleton’s emotional three-word response when hearing a royal fan’s cancer diagnosis, revealed
Kate Middleton has begun her chemotherapy after receiving her cancer diagnosis some month ago. The Princess of Wales revealed the diagnosis in an emotional video on March 22, and since then, there has been an eerie silence regarding her health status.
As Kate Middleton was recovering from her abdominal surgery, she was initially expected to return to royal duties after Easter. Today, we know that didn’t become a reality as she received her cancer diagnosis, and now, she is entirely focused on recovering while undergoing treatment. At the same time, Kate is known to have done some minor royal work from home, such as answering emails and reaching out to members of the public.
The Princess of Wales is one of, if not the most popular royal family members. She has been praised for her way of interacting with members of the public, no matter who it is. With that said, as she is battling cancer, one person has now revealed an incredible interaction he had with Kate a while back. He also was battling cancer – and Kate Middleton reportedly gave him an astonishing response.
On Friday, March 22, Kate Middleton put all cards on the table. In an emotional video published on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social media accounts, the 42-year-old mother of three revealed to the world that she is in the early stages of cancer treatment.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery. It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful,” Kate began in the video.
Kate Middleton – cancer diagnosis
The Princess of Wales explained that at the time she underwent the abdominal surgery, it was thought that her condition was non-cancerous, and the surgery was successful. However, when undergoing tests after the operation, doctors found that cancer had been present.
Kate Middleton continued, “My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment. This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”
“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be ok. As I have said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirits.”
The Princess of Wales continued praising her husband, Prince William, saying it is a “great source of comfort and reassurance” having him by her side. Further, Kate asked the public for privacy moving forward.
“We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able. But for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”
Kate Middleton ended the emotional video by saying that she is also thinking of every other person affected by cancer.
“For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone,” the princess said.
Talk show host issued apology to Kate after joking about her disappearance
Royal fans worldwide sent their best wishes to Kate Middleton following her cancer diagnosis. Meanwhile, many of the conspiracy theories surrounding her were laid to bed and several celebrities who had made fun of her before the announcement apologized.
One of them was talk show host Stephen Colbert, who, on March 13, made a joke about the conspiracy theories posted online surrounding Kate Middleton’s disappearance from the public eye.
“Internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband, and the future King of England, William, having an affair,” Colbert said at the time. “According to tabloid, when Kate supposedly confronted him about it, he laughed it off, saying there was nothing to it. Always a good response when your wife accuses you of cheating.”
Shortly after the Princess of Wales had revealed her cancer diagnosis, Colbert decided to apologize.
On his show, Colbert explained that he “tells a lot of jokes” about “a lot of different things.” He continued saying that since he jokes “mostly what everybody’s talking about” at the time, it was Kate Middleton who was getting front-page coverage.
“Two weeks ago, we did some jokes about that mystery and all the attendant fru-fra in the reporting about that. And when I made those jokes, that upset some people, even before her diagnosis was revealed, and I can understand that. A lot of my jokes have upset people in the past, and I’m sure some of my jokes will upset people in the future. But there’s a standard that I try to hold myself to, and that is I do not make light of somebody else’s tragedy,” Stephen Colbert said as he apologized to Kate.
“I don’t know if whether her prognosis is a tragic one — she’s the future Queen of England and I assume she’s going to get the best possible medical care — but regardless of what it is, I know, and I’m sure far too many of us know, that any cancer diagnosis of any kind is harrowing for the patient and for their family,”
He continued, “Though I’m sure they don’t need it from me, I and everyone here at The Late Show would like to extend our well wishes and heartfelt hope that her recovery is swift and thorough.”
Kate Middleton sent letters from hospital bed
After her abdominal surgery, Kate spent 13 days at the London Clinic to recover.
Although the Princess of Wales didn’t perform any royal engagements in public while recovering at the London Clinic, it’s reported that she didn’t entirely distance herself from her work.
In early February, Kate Garraway, whose husband, television host Derek Draper, passed away in January following complications from COVID-19, appeared on Good Morning Britain, revealing that members of the public, as well as Kate Middleton, had sent her a letter with condolences.
“And from the royal family — Catherine and William sent a beautiful letter, and I know Catherine has been in hospital herself,” Garraway said.
“Even the King — because there is somebody [who] knows about grief — that anticipatory grief where you know something has a risk of happening and how different it is when it does happen.”
However, Kate Garraway was not the only one receiving a letter from Kate Middleton during this time.
On April 6, X user @AllemarieHoll1 left royal fans with melted hearts with a story of how she received a letter from Kensington Palace, the office of the Prince and Princess of Wales. In January, she and her family sent a card to Kate Middleton following her abdominal surgery and got a response.
Sent ‘thank you’ note to royal fan after surgery
“Back in January, when we were informed our beautiful Princess of Wales had undergone surgery, I sent her a card with our (my family and I) sincerest best wishes for healing and, of course, an abundance of love,” she wrote as reported by Express. “Today, I received this beautiful acknowledgment, and I can honestly say I shall treasure this my entire life.”
The thank you card to her and her husband had Kensington Palace printed at the top and stated, “Thank you for your kind well wishes to Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales. Your thoughtful gesture is very much appreciated.”
Moreover, the user joked that her husband thought they had been invited to a royal garden party.
“The envelope has Kensington Palace on the back lol hubby thought he was going to have to get his suit out for a garden party (silly him) but he is just as blown away as I am to received this beautiful, and much treasured card. Continued prayers and healing to our beautiful Princess of Wales,” X user @AllemarieHoll1 continued.
Kate Middleton has become one of, if not the most popular royal family members among the public. In polls, the Princess of Wales always scores high points, and the fact that she is the future queen is comforting to royal fans.
Not only has she been getting a lot of coverage and praise for her work breaking the stigma surrounding mental health among the youth, but also for handling the public when out on royal duty.
Cancer survivor reveals emotional meeting with Kate Middleton
For example, every time Kate Middleton talks to a child in public, she usually bends down and dedicates her time to them. Of course, she is nice to not only children when out on royal duty but also all other fans.
As Kate MIddleton is facing a very challenging time with her cancer diagnosis, one fan has now stepped forward and shared an emotional meeting he had with the future queen on the subject.
During a trip to Blackpool with her husband, Prince William, in 2019, Kate met Paul Philip Roberts, now 53. He had recently undergone surgery for lung cancer – and the two had an extraordinary moment together.
Speaking with PA, as per Express, Paul Philip Roberts has now praised Kate for showing him that “she cares,” adding that his “heart goes out to her.”
He had told Kate about his cancer diagnosis – and she responded with three emotional words: “Just keep going.”
“I’d just come out of hospital and Kate was visiting Blackpool with Prince William, they were touring Blackpool, and it was then that I managed to chat to her,” he told PA. “She did a walkabout, William went on one side and she came the other side, she came to my side, and we were chatting for a good five minutes.”
“We were chatting and I was saying, my life has changed, it was so difficult, you’ve got to go through every emotion. She basically said, ‘What cancer is it?’ and I said it was stage three and that I had my lung out, and she said, ‘Oh my God, that’s awful,’ and she said, ‘Just keep going,’ and she gave us a hug.”
“I just wish her all the luck in the world”
Paul Philip Roberts added that it struck him that she really cared. He said that the Princess of Wales will help thousands of others after she revealed her cancer diagnosis.
“It’s beneficial to the community and to the world, when you think about how many people she might have saved,” he told PA and concluded by sending Kate Middleton a message of his own.
“Always focus on getting stronger. That’s my message to her, is to focus on getting stronger, and take all the support that you can because it’s crucial. I just wish her all the luck in the world and I hope she manages to get through it, especially for her family.”
