Adele confirms she won’t see fans “for an incredibly long time” after current residency ends
Fans of Adele have every reason to be down in the dumps today after the iconic singer warned them of a forthcoming hiatus that will keep her away from the stage for “an incredibly long time”.
The 36-year-old, one of the world’s biggest artists, told concert-goers at a recent Munich show that she plans to take a huge step away from the spotlight when her current Las Vegas residency comes to an end in November.
A video of the star’s admission was uploaded to TikTok, showing Adele telling fans that she has has only 10 shows left to do on her residency before she takes an extended break from performing.
“I have 10 shows to do, but after that I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart,” Adele told her audience in Munich.
The Skyfall singer is reportedly scheduled to perform the last 10 shows of her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace – titled Weekends with Adele – from October 25 to November 23, drawing to a close a residency that began back in November 2022.
Those dates had initially been penciled in for March, but Adele was forced to postpone them in order to take a break after experiencing trouble with her vocals.
“Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Vegas residency,” she revealed at the time.
“I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break.”
Earlier this summer, the singer told German publication ZDF that she was planning on taking a lengthy break to focus on creative pursuits outside of music.
“I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,” the 36-year-old said. “I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
There were mixed reactions to the singer’s recent confirmation that she’ll be taking a long hiatus following the end of her Vegas residency. Fans flocked to the comments section of the aforementioned TikTok video to let their feelings be known.
“This is what Adele does. Disappears, then comes out with a banger!” wrote one optimistic fan.
“5 years of darkness and the another banger,” commented another.
“I mean… doesn’t she do this after every album,” wrote a third.
“I wish she could stay,” opined a fourth fan.
Another wrote: “See yall in 8 years I guess. her music releases are getting further and further apart from each other.”
