Leavitt caught Strahan off guard during an interview on Wednesday as she defended President Donald Trump\u2018s efforts to force federal government workers back into their offices in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n

Strahan expressed concerns that government doctors and scientists would leave their jobs in the federal government rather than return to work five days a week in their offices.<\/p>\n

\u2018Is there any concern that we risk losing people with years of experience like doctors and let\u2019s say, scientists?\u2019 he asked.<\/p>\n

Leavitt shot back: \u2018Well most doctors who work in actual hospitals and medical institutions have to show up in the office.\u2019<\/p>\n

Fans of Leavitt rallied to her support, describing her as the \u2018grim reaper\u2019 for newscasters like Strahan, a former NFL player for the New York Giants.<\/p>\n

\u2018Karoline sacked Strahan\u2026,\u2019 wrote fan David Belman on X, referring to the morning show\u2019s previous role as a football player.<\/p>\n

Leavitt, 27, has quickly earned support from the president and his supporters, as the youngest press secretary in the history of the job.<\/p>\n

She made her debut in the White House press briefing room on Tuesday, announcing she was shaking up the seating slots by offering seats to new media outlets and influencers.<\/p>\n

\u2018Whether you are a TikTok content creator, a blogger, a podcaster, if you are producing legitimate news content, no matter the medium, you will be allowed to apply for press credentials in this White House,\u2019 she announced.<\/p>\n

Within hours, 7,400 people already signed up for a seat.<\/p>\n

When she\u2019s not in-person at her office at the White House, Leavitt is at home with her husband Nicholas Riccio and her baby son Niko.<\/p>\n

She was grateful after Trump campaign managers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita offered her a job, even though she was expecting a child in the middle of the campaign.<\/p>\n

She gave birth in July.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s true when they say there\u2019s nothing comparable to the love you feel for your child. My heart has grown bigger than I ever imagined possible,\u2019 she wrote on Instagram celebrating the birth of her son.<\/p>\n

Strahan expressed concerns that government doctors and scientists would leave their jobs rather than return to work five days a week in their offices<\/p>\n

Leavitt even stepped into work three days later, after Trump was shot by a gunman during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

\u2018The president literally put his life on the line to win this election. The least I could do is get back to work quickly,\u2019 she said to The Conservator in an interview in October.<\/p>\n

She was appointed by Trump to serve as press secretary in the White House, taking her place with other professionals in the White House.<\/p>\n

\u2018He doesn\u2019t care if you\u2019re a man or a woman, with kids or no kids,\u2019 Leavitt explained about the president. \u2018He just wants the hardest worker and the best person for the job. And that\u2019s what makes him a great boss.\u2019<\/p>\n

She said on social media it was a difficult sacrifice to work at the White House, but an honor.<\/p>\n

\u2018I remind myself this job is temporary, it\u2019s the opportunity of a lifetime, and I know one day he will be proud of his mama,\u2019 she told supporters.<\/p>\n

Leavitt went viral in June after she voiced concerns on CNN about \u2018biased\u2019 debate moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.<\/p>\n

CNN Anchor Kasie Hunt cut off Leavitt\u2019s microphone and ended the interview, declaring that she would not stand for attacks on her colleagues and their journalistic integrity.<\/p>\n

One fan noted that it was easier for a communications professional to be combative during a presidential campaign, but the tone had to shift after the president took office.<\/p>\n

\u2018It gets tougher when you need to be gracious to those the wish the worst for you. But she does it well,\u2019 wrote Jesse Bronx on X. \u2018We love Karoline Leavitt.\u2019<\/p>\n

Leavitt went on to defend Trump\u2019s order for federal workers to return to the office.<\/p>\n

\u2018We know that employees are more productive and more efficient when they are working in an in-office environment,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n

Trump signed an executive order demanding that federal agencies come up with a return to work plan to get workers back in the office.<\/p>\n

\u2018Don\u2019t forget it\u2019s the American people that are funding this government and they deserve people that are actually showing up to work on their behalf,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Leavitt noted that just six percent of federal workers in Washington, DC were working full time in their offices.<\/p>\n

\u2018This government has been wasting millions of dollars on empty office space that is beautiful, I mean look at the beautiful buildings in this city. They\u2019re gorgeous, they\u2019ve been here for decades,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the week, Trump issued an option for federal workers to take a buyout, to get full pay and benefits until September if they chose to resign their positions.<\/p>\n
