Julie Newmar is best known for her role as Catwoman. She was the first woman to get one of the most pivotal roles in the Batman<\/a> franchise. She was Catwoman on the \u201860s\u00a0Batman\u00a0<\/em>TV series.<\/p>\n

She was recently spotted in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 15, of this year. During her public appearance, she rode a motorized scooter. She wore gray sweatpants, fuzzy slippers, and a blue button-up shirt. She also wore a wide-brimmed hat to keep the sun out of her eyes.<\/p>\n

The 91-year-old is not often seen out in public. She is active on Instagram. On May 13, she posted pictures of flowers blossoming with an accompanying caption, saying, \u201cOur most glorious garden yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, she posted<\/a> a video of her time as Catwoman, starring next to Adam West from 1966 to 1968. She starred in 13 episodes, but was highly beloved for her character on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was depressed \u2014 then I read what people had to say about me in the comment section. Oh My!!\u201d Newmar wrote<\/a> alongside a screenshot of her video of her during her time as Catwoman.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s amazing,\u201d a top comment under the video read. \u201cI loved her as a child, and as an adult I can appreciate her comedic genius. Such an incredible presence \u2764\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJulie Newmar is by far my favorite Catwoman!\u201d another person commented. \u201cShe had such a mesmerizing presence everytime she was on screen \u2764\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

She is rarely spotted out and about. In 2024, she was seen at a fan event where she wore cat ears as she signed autographs for her fans. In 2017, she attended the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con and CatCon.<\/p>\n

In a prior\u00a0interview<\/a> she said, \u201cI\u2019m realizing that through all the shows I\u2019ve done \u2014 the television, film and stage \u2014 all the mediums I\u2019ve worked in, Catwoman\u2019s costume was the one that allowed me to tell the story through my body.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe words were brilliant, and funny on top of that,\u201d she recalled about the character. \u201cThe producer hired the right people to do all the lighting, to do this, that and the other, and it was the right time in the right decade. It all worked.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also voiced the character in Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Batman vs. Two-Face<\/em>, which were released in 2016 and 2017, respectively.<\/p>\n

Julie Newmar was the first actress<\/a> to do the role, but several big names took the role up later including Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry<\/a> and more. The latest actress to take on the role was Zo\u00eb Kravitz opposite Robert Pattinson\u2019s Batman.<\/p>\n

Other credits for Newmar include another \u201860s series,\u00a0My Living Doll<\/em>, an appearance in\u00a0George Michael\u2019s music video for \u201dToo Funky.\u201d She also made a cameo as herself in 1995\u2019s\u00a0To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything!<\/p>\n
